My name is Mary.  I’ve been married for 16 years, to my best friend, we have two children, a boy who is 15 and a girl who is 12.  We are a homeschooling family and I hope in this blog to be able to share all my excitement about curriculum, motherhood, teaching and general life.  This is my 9th year homeschooling.  We are mostly eclectic in style but I am fond of all the styles that homeschooling has to offer.  I think it will be great to be able to share what I am learning and what I have discovered and will discover along the way.  I hope you will enjoy this too.

My greatest passion and joy in life has come from finding Bible doctrine which is the daily, consistent study of the Bible under a trained Pastor-Teacher, from the original languages, using the ICE method of Bible teaching.  The ICE Method is:  I for Isagogics which is the historical setting. C for Categorical which is comparing scripture with scripture, learning doctrine line upon line, precept upon precept. E for Exegesis which is studying the Bible from the original languages with full context of the selected verse or verses, paying strict attention to grammar, syntax, and the etymology of the words from the original languages.  All of this is provided daily at my church from my Pastor Teacher, Joseph Sugrue at www.cgtruth.org .  The beautiful thing about this is that I have the opportunity to know, understand and have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in ways I never dreamed simply because I am daily being taught His thinking.  In turn, I am learning to think like Him and love Him because I know Him.  This information is all free of charge to the listener as the Church is a grace ministry and does not charge for any teachings of the Word of God.

    Thank you Theresa!

Wow. This is one of the best explanations of doctrine I’ve ever read. Everything you said has come out of class but you did a great job of putting it all together. I don’t think I could have done it near as well.

I agree with Theresa ~ great summation! I didn’t even know this was here until today. Maybe I’ll subscribe to you by RSS… ! Then I’ll know when you post something.

I am visiting you via Karen’s blog. Your explaination is teriffic!
I too am a homeschooling mom. We use the Abeka program, and we love it. However, we do take some detours and all is well.
Since the Col’s retirement, we have been viewing dvd’s from Berachah, Robby Dean at West Houston and Henry Hastings at Grace Atlanta. We have listened to Pastor Bob, and at the time, his teachings just didn’t fit. Nothing wrong with them, just didn’t resonate. Finding our right PT is a somewhat new journey after being under the Col’s teaching for so long.
We pray that God will lead us to one pastor or better yet a local congregation to be a part of. So far all we’ve found locally are quite charismatic.
I have subscribed and look forward to more from you.
    My best,

      Thank you Polly!
I’m always excited to know other homeschool moms and especially doctrinal ones! I too will pray that the Lord will bring a quick resolution to your right PT needs. We live in Utah and also suffer from no “local” assembly. I consider the folks on Paltalk that listen live at the same time as me to be my “local” assembly along with those at GBC. I miss face to face people very much but I’m content with it now.

It was cool to know you are out there going forward,
